For the Love of Lilac

There is no denying it when I say one of my favorite color schemes is lilac. So when one of our fabulous clients told us she was planning on having a Ladies’ Lounge in her front parlor, we were so excited at the opportunity. We immediately got to work on the design scheme, and this beautiful little lounge evolved into the lilac wonder it is today.

But before I talk about the result, I want to mention that this beautiful home was built over 100 years ago in The Old Village, Mount Pleasant. Just walking into the space before it was even occupied by our sweet clients was such an honor, as I know there were so many beautiful memories made over the years and so many more to be made once this design was complete.

In order to do this, though, we needed to create a space that served as a lounge and a place for friends to gather over a glass of iced tea or wine. We also wanted to ensure the seating was comfortable for long afternoon conversations and fun evening chats. We selected these beautiful Highland House swivel chairs for that very reason. They are so comfy! They also swivel, a feature I often love specifying when sourcing chairs. We did a custom Anna French lilac fabric for the chair's body and a fun Samuel and Sons fringe for the base.

This room needed a rug that was soft in color but had lilac to pull in all of the other pieces of the room. We loved this Oushak Rug, which had lilac and a little green in the entry wallpaper adjacent to this room, and the commissioned artwork over the fireplace.

Because this is a younger family, we knew we wanted to add a little bit of an unexpected and modern element, so we decided to use this fun blown-glass light fixture, which is the perfect juxtaposition with the classic lines of the furniture, and the traditional drapery panels.

It was such an honor to design such a wonderful space in such a historic home! I know that our clients will create many fun memories in this room that will be thought about 100 years from now! Scroll below for more photos of this beautiful home!
