Wallpaper: Adding Personality and Style

Wallpaper is a fantastic way to introduce personality and style right at the front door. Here’s how to use it effectively:

  • Bold Patterns: Choose bold, eye-catching patterns to create a dramatic entrance. Geometric designs, florals, or abstract art can add a unique touch. If you love color or large scale, don’t be afraid to use it in your entry. It’s a fun way to show your style without committing to a large space in your home.

  • Subtle Textures: For a more understated look, consider textured wallpaper in neutral tones. This adds depth and interest without overwhelming the space.

  • Add Wainscoting: If are hesitant about adding the wallpaper floor to ceiling, we often recommend adding Wainscoting to the bottom half of your walls.

Beautiful Mirrors: Enhancing Light and Space

Mirrors are not just functional; they can make your entryway feel larger and brighter. Here’s how to incorporate them:

  • Statement Mirror: A large, statement mirror can serve as a stunning centerpiece. Choose a decorative frame that complements your overall decor.

  • Grouped Mirrors: Arrange a collection of smaller mirrors to create an artful display. This adds visual interest and reflects light from multiple angles.

  • Placement: Position mirrors opposite windows or light sources to maximize natural light and create a more inviting space.

Artwork: Showcasing Your Style

Artwork in the entryway is a great way to showcase your personal style and set the tone for your home. Consider these tips:

  • Large Pieces: A single large piece of artwork can make a bold statement and fill the space effectively.

  • Gallery Wall: Create a gallery wall with a mix of frames and artwork. This adds a dynamic and curated feel to your entryway.

  • Themes and Colors: Choose artwork that reflects your style and that speaks to you. While we love to add pops of color through artwork. Especially in an entryway.

Rugs: Adding Warmth and Texture

A well-chosen rug can tie the entryway together and add warmth underfoot. Here’s what to keep in mind:

  • Size and Shape: Ensure the rug is appropriately sized for your entryway. It should cover the main area without overwhelming the space. Runners work well in narrow entryways.

  • Durability: Choose a rug made from durable materials that can withstand high traffic. This doesn’t mean that you have to go low in quality though. Even the a hand-made wool rug will stand the test of time in an entryway and is easy to clean.

  • Patterns and Colors: Opt for patterns and colors that complement your overall decor. A vibrant rug can add a pop of color, while a neutral one can create a calm and inviting atmosphere.

  • Don’t Forget the Pad: The entry will get a lot of traffic, and in order to minimize slips or your rug moving around, be sure to get a nice rug pad underneath your rug.

Lamps: Creating Warmth and Ambiance

Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood of your entryway. Use lamps to create a warm and welcoming ambiance:

  • Table Lamps: Place table lamps on a console table or sideboard. They provide soft, ambient light and can be a stylish addition.

  • Wall Sconces: Wall sconces are a great space-saving option. They add a sophisticated touch and can highlight artwork or mirrors.

  • Statement Lighting: Consider a statement chandelier or pendant light for a grand entrance. It adds elegance and makes a lasting impression.
